Neo Africa was one of the major sponsors at this year’s PinkDrive “Shades of Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon, hosted on 20 October at Emperor’s Palace. Neo Africa, in collaboration with Kamak Productions, ensured that the event showcased a star-studded line up of a variety of artists who kept the crowd entertained for the duration of the luncheon.
The entertainment theme that was decided on by the Organisers embraced the “DIVAS” concept. As breast cancer is not selective and does not target only one race, gender, age group or cultural group, we ensured that the entertainment included well known male and female entertainers across all cultural and music genres who are passionate about this worthy cause.
Our Masters of Ceremony were Bongani Nx, popularly known as the voice behind the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup and well loved on-air Presenter of the Breakfast Express on local radio, 94.7 Highveld Stereo and Arnold Geerdts, renowned South African Journalist and DSTV Sports Presenter.
Guests were mesmerised by the “Instrumental DIVA”, Caitlin, an electric violinist and performer extraordinaire. Caitlin has enthralled national and international audiences with her extreme aerial violin act and has graced the stages of events such as the 2008 Miss World competition.
The opening act was performed by the “Future DIVA”, Carly Bailey. Although a relative newcomer on the South African music scene she has already performed in various State Theatre productions and her singing talent spans many genres.
Popular South African Songstress, Louise Carver, the “Contemporary DIVA”, provided top class musical entertainment in her unique and electrifying style! She has been nominated for numerous SAMA awards over the past four years and has provided incredible, original music to both national and international crowds.
The soothing and emotional voice of our “Soul DIVA”, Lungi Naidoo, created a sophisticated ambiance before the breast cancer survivor shared her survival tale with the audience. Lungi has performed at numerous Presidential Events and was also the opening artist for international star, Akon, during his South African tour.
Gracing the stage as the final performance of the function was Nadine, the event’s “Traverse DIVA”. Nadine is one of South Africa’s most successful and popular cross-over artists, boasting both Afrikaans and English hit albums. She has also performed on numerous national and international stages, inspiring audiences with her beautiful, melodic voice.
Neo Africa also secured major sponsorships from Comfort Zone and Bushman’s Hide. Comfort Zone is a spa, skincare, body and organic range, originating from Italy and provided gift vouchers for a discounted Comfort Zone facial to all the guests, with major skin care spas such as the Carltonspace, Skin Sense, Yukon and Pyramid Day Spa as participating partners. The brand has also provided gifts for the raffle competition.
Bushman’s Hide sponsored a weekend for two at Bushman’s Hide, a luxury four-star tented bush camp in the heart of the Waterberg biosphere nature reserve, as an auction price.
